My birthday was on July 4th. It has got to be the best birthday I've ever had.
First of all, June 30, the Friday before my birthday, Stephanie, Adam, Pete, and Lor took me out to dinner at this awesome Jamacain restaurant. Stephanie bought me a drink called "Sea Foam" and was DELICIOUS! That might have been why I had such a good time at that dinner...I really can't hold my liquor. The wait was absolutely obnoxious, but everyone hung out and talked because I really wanted to eat there.
Stephanie and Adam really went all out for my birthday present though. Stephanie got me super gourmet cinnamon and vanilla extract, because she knows those are my two favorite flavors, and I've just really gotten into cooking. ^_^ She also gave me a cooking magazine, because of the recipes it had in side. I really want to cook something for her as a thank you.
Adam was super nice and gave me a handmade necklace. He makes chainmail and when he gets creative, he's makes a very stylish necklace, let me tell ya! I love it, and wear it all the time. It's got this small green stone wrapped up in wire, and the height is perfect. He asked me if anything started falling apart, cause he'd fix it if so, but geez, I don't think anything could really come undone. It's a solid sterdy necklace, and I really think he could sell these. But I got one for free and I coulda cried. Seriously...those two were so sweet. XD
Pete actually bought me a subscription to DeviantArt. I think he more wants me to update my gallery than anything else. ^_^ It was really really nice of him to do, and it makes browsing and commenting a whole hell of a lot easier.
Steph even bought me an ice cream cake, which we had afterwards. It was so fricking good! And Lor, yeah, he was so charming and sweet...perfect. Really perfect. Wow, I had such a great time Friday night, I would have been thrilled just to leave it that way, but no! this was gonna be the best birthday evah!
Lor took me down to Gurnee Mills bright and early Saturday morning. We had a great two hours in the car driving there, laughing and talking. I blew about half my refund check on clothes...a little b-day present to myself. I just had so much fun shopping with him. Lor's great at picking up fashions and letting me know if something doesn't look right. Plus, I was just feeling really good about myself (something that's very hard to do when you're shopping for clothes) and I gotta say...I picked up some really awesome articles. We were so sore after walking up and down that mall so many times. Poor Lor, didn't find any shoes that he wanted...but that's okay. That's what the internet is for (or the Mall of America, right?) XD
So after a day at Gurnee, we went to my parent's place. My dad had cooked up some BBQ chicken for us and mom made her famous potato salad (must learn to make that). Since this was the first time I'd seen them in a couple months I gave them their Mother's/Father's day gifts. Gave mom her very own Nintendo DS with a copy of NintenDogs. She seems to like it. Heh, she plays it, so that's good. I wanna hook up our games for Christmas and swap items. XD Dad got a 15 piece Farbarware cookware set. He fell immediately in love with it, like a little boy on Christmas morning. We made a couple mean omelets for us the next morning too!
Lor and I left about noon on Sunday to go to Great America. And Great America is so cool. I love the Batman and was finally able to take Lor to it. The scenery as your waiting in line just makes that ride for me. There was so much love that was put into it, that I really could just wait in line forever. ^_^
Monday I had off, so I went off with Stacie and Pete to draw. Ended up reading comics more than drawing though XD And we had a huge lunch/dinner at this totally awesome diner they knew about. The owner was super nice and felt bad that I was the only one at the table without a milkshake, so he gave me a free one(vanilla).
And Tuesday (my actual birthday) was super special. Lor put together a surprise mini-golf party for me with Stephanie, Adam, Tarsha and Mike. It was gorgious day out and the we were playing on a very pretty course. It was so much fun! I got fourth place. :( but hey, Lor beat me so I was happy for him. ^_^ After the game, we did go-karts.....and they're soooo cool!!! God I LOVE go-karts, never been on them before...totally awesome! XDXDXDXD Heh by this point, Lor and I were exhausted. Hell we were exhausted by Saturday night.
So Wednesday, I got to relax and do artwork, watch Dinosaurs (XD), and just generally recoupe.
Thursday, Stephanie and I got together and cooked/baked a huge dinner for everyone who showed up later after work. That was lots of fun. I got to practice making bread and we baked cookies too! I really could go for another of those cookies...
Then on Friday, my birthday present from Lor came in-Namco's Taiko drum game. I've been wanting this game for a long while now, and just never wanted to splurge on it...so Lor did it for me. Like I said....best birthday evah. Especially since we got to bang on the drums all night long. XD |
